Aidan Hesselwood
Born in 1984, Aidan lives in Lincolnshire, England, and has been making pipes since 2020. Whilst initially a hobby woodturner, he fell in love with pipe making as a multi-disciplinary craft, and has since learned to work with a number of other materials that he adds to his pipes, like mammoth ivory, horn, and handmade silverwork.
He has been taught by Chris Kelly and Chris Askwith, and is inspired by the English and Danish classics, aspiring to pipe makers like Tom Eltang, Chris Asteriou, and Jesse Jones. Aidan’s pipes are made either freehand or on the lathe, from Italian briar and German ebonite, and prefers to turn the mouthpiece tenons from the same rod stock in the classic tradition.
